The capital of Azad Kashmir, Muzzafarabad is located on the banks of the Jhelum and Neelum rivers and is almost 3 and a half hours away from the city of Islamabad. The city has a history of rising from tragedy; the earthquake of 2005. Among the many attractions, Muzzafrabad offers are it’s breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, serene waterfalls and streams, lush green trees and enchanting mountains. A highlight is the jaw-dropping view of Tarai mountains. There are a few interesting sites that one must visit including the Muzaffarabad Fort and two forts on the opposite sides of the Neelum River; the red fort and the black fort. Muzaffarabad can be reached from Islamabad in almost 4 hours, with an optional stop at Murree on the way. It is a very convenient route.
