Getting to Chitral from Islamabad/ Peshawar:

It is advised to visit Kalash in summer (May to September) because Kalash Valleys are cut off as the access roads are closed due to heavy snow. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) operates daily flights from Islamabad and Peshawar to Chitral (subject to weather conditions). It is a 50-minute flight on a small plane. You can also go to Kalash by road both from Islamabad and Peshawar. It takes around 10 hours from Islamabad to reach Chitral by road and some 7 hours from Peshawar. If you are coming by public transport, you first need to reach Chitral either from Gilgit City (24h journey, overnight in Mastuj) or the Swat Valley (18h journey, stop in Timergara). Using Karakoram Highway, you can also go from Gilgit through Mastuj, but it’s a long 2-day journey.

Chitral to Rumbur/ Bumburet/ BirirValley (Kalash):

From Chitral main bus station, there are mini-vans as well as shared taxis going to the village of Aini (30 km away). In Aini, you can take local pickups to travel to Bumburet Valley, which is just 2 hrs away from Chitral. Congratulations you have reached your desired destination!

Note: The road conditions make your ride bumpy and limit you to only travel in jeeps or 4×4 vehicles, but the overall experience is quite adventurous.
